Well, as you can guess by the title, I finally got to drive last night. Out of Houston at last! Of course, I couldn’t leave Houston without at least one more thing going wrong. I had a headhight go out. The maintenance fixed it right away though. Now 360 miles later, I’m in a place where no one speaks my language. I’ve reached Laredo! I’m not sure it’s right that the security guard here speaks English (even if it is broken), but the warehouse manager doesn’t. If ever there was a place that needs illegal immigration control, Laredo screams, “HELP ME!”
Enough about that. It looks like I may get stuck in Laredo for a little while too. There are at least 8 of us waiting to get a load out of here. I did, however, get an empty trailer right away, which is nice. I still can’t fuel up here though. They put in fuel pumps at the Laredo Service Center the same week I started with the company. It’s been over 3 months and they still haven’t got them running yet. Maybe, they forgot to put an ON switch or something.
From what it sounds like, yesterday’s winds might have given me a project this weekend. It seems one side of our fence is about to fall over from what I’ve been told. I will probably just have to brace it for now until I can afford to actually replace the whole thing. That’s really what has needed to be done since before we even bought the place. While I’m at it, I’d like to build a shelf to mount in the garage so we can get some of those boxes up off the floor. We’ll see what happens.
I can’t wait for Thanksgiving weekend to get here. It’s going to be the 1st time I have ever gotten a paid holiday and actually got to be home. I’m not sure if I’ll get home on Wednesday or Thursday yet, but I know I won’t be going back to work until Monday afternoon at the earliest. That Monday, I’ve got an 8:30am dentist appointment and Susan’s got a 10:30am doctors appointment. I hope the doc can tell us if the baby’s going to be a boy or a girl. I’m so anxious to know. So, even though we aren’t going to Arkansas after all, it will be equily as nice to spend the time at home and do things around town. Hopefully, we’ll go see The Santa Clause 3 and Deja Vu sometime that weekend.
By the way, thank you, Jeromy, for making me aware of the membership sign in thing. It’s been changed. And thank you Susan for the compliment on my blog layout. I guess I’ll stop babbling now.
