Tomorrow’s Christmas!

December 24, 2006

Ho! Ho! Ho!

I’ve been busy at work all week and didn’t have enough time to update. Here’s my update. I worked until Saturday morning, came home, went grocery shopping for Christmas Dinner, and played on the computer. Now it Christmas Eve and we’re all excited for tomorrow to get here. Gifts to give, gifts to open, and merriment all around. We’re having hogie sandwiches for dinner tonight. And that’s all I’ve got for now.

Here’s wishing you and yours all a very, very, Merry Christmas!

Move Along Little Doggie!

December 21, 2006

Four more day until Christmas!

Since I’ve actually been busy at work the last few days, I haven’t had the time to post anything. But now, I stuck in good old Laredo once again with nothing to do. In 2 1/2 days on my tour of Texas I’ve went from Grand Praire to Dallas, Dallas to San Antonio, San Antonio to Freeport, and Freeport to Laredo. And it’s rained off and on pretty much the whole time. On my way to San Antonio on Tuesday, I got stuck in traffic from a wreck on I-35 south in West, TX. 5 big rigs were involved in the wreck. One driver lost his life. One of the trucks was carrying live ammunition and the fire from the accident set the ammo off. When I got up to where the accident happened, they were towing away the last truck from the scene. It was a UPS truck. Or should I say, what was left of a UPS truck. The whole thing shut down the freeway for almost 11 hours according to the news reports. I was only stuck in it for about 2 hours.

And that’s all there is. I’ve got nothing else. So, goodbye for now.

One Week Until Christmas!

December 18, 2006

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere we go. Today we got the last of our Christmas gifts bought. We put the final touches on outside Christmas decorations. We wrapped the big tree in our front yard with red and white lights. It looks exactly the way we wanted it to. :-) Afterwards, Susan & I played on the Game Cube together. We hadn’t done that since we moved into the house back at the end on June. For dinner we ordered pizza & boneless wings, sat together, and watched “The Santa Clause 2″ Both Chansi and Jack laid quietly on the floor and relaxed the whole time.

You know it’s times like these that make me realize what a lucky man I am. I have a lovely wife, a child on the way, 2 very good pets, a wonderful home, 2 good working vehicles, a good paying job and not too many worries in life. 10 years ago, heck, 5 years ago, I would have never believed anybody if they had told me my life would turn out so good. I am really actually happy with almost every aspect of my life. Money’s always been tight, but we’ve always had enough to manage the day to day.

Anyways, Susan went to another doctor’s appointment today. We found out that the baby’s due date is set to be May 30th. We got to listen to the baby’s heart again and the doctor said the baby was moving around a bit cause he had to keep moving to monitor on Susan’s tummy to hear the heartbeat. She also had more blood drawn to see if everything’s going okay with her and the baby. Susan next appointment is on January 15th and we are probably going to get to know if our baby’s going to be a boy or a girl on that day. I can hardly wait!

In other news, on Saturday we received our Christmas gifts from my parents and sister in the mail. We are being good though and waiting until Christmas Day to open them. Susan’s mom and her sister’s family sound like they’re having fun on their ski trip in Colorado. Except, it sounds like Brandon caught himself a cold. I hope it doesn’t ruin his fun and he gets over it quickly. I’ve been sick the last few days and I wish it would go away already.

I believe that’s all I’ve got for now. It’s just about time for vision’s of sugar plums to dance in my head. Goodnight all.

Truly “Sick” of Shopping.

December 16, 2006

What a day! We went out and fought the holiday crowds. We had to go to 5 different stores to get all the things we were buying for everyone. Getting a parking space at all the stops was surprisingly easy. But inside the stores, that was a whole different story. The stores were so crowded I thought the walls were going to burst at the seams. The biggest thing tough was that both of us are sick. It felt to me like I was wearing a weighted suit all day. When all was said and done, we drove away with almost all our Christmas shopping done. Hooray!!!!

Later we went with Jeromy & Mandy to Buck & Loons restaurant. Susan & I had never been there before and had been wanting to try them for awhile now. The food there was okay, but the waiter was probably by far the worst server I’ve ever had. Even with all the truck stop restaurants I’ve been to none of the servers have been as inattentive as he was. Jeromy had to ask for his drink to be refilled twice before it was done. I had to yell to get the waiter’s attention so I could ask for a refill and then 10 minutes later I had to ask another server if they could get the refill for me. When we were leaving Jeromy asked to talk to a manager about the horrible service we got. For our troubles the manager gave us our meal for free. At least that was impressive. I’m not sure how soon I’ll go back there, but if I do he sure won’t be serving me again.

Now I’m sitting here with all the energy completely zapped out of me and I’m just glad to get to finally be resting. I plan to relax the rest of the night and sleep in as much as possible tomorrow. So until then, everyone be good to one another.

Aaaaahhhh!!!! My Brains Are Leeking Out of My Nose!

December 15, 2006

Damn! I had to go and catch me a cold. I haven’t been sick in quite a long time now. My nose is like a leaky faucet. Anyway, I got home today at about 3pm after delivering my last load for the week in Dallas. I laid down on the couch and rested until Susan got home from work. It’s just the 2 of us tonight. Janie left today with the Howard’s for their trip to Colorado. Susan made little smokies and mac & cheese for dinner. Mmm, Mmm, Good! Then we went to Walgreens for some medicine to help with our colds. Oh by the way, Susan’s sick too. Lovely, ain’t it? Being sick however, did not stop us from going to Sonic to get a couple of shakes. Once we got home, we let the dogs out to take care of their business. When they came back in we noticed that Jack seemed to be limping. He’s walking ever so carefully on his left front leg. We’re going to see how he’s doing in the next couple of days and if it’s still bugging him I guess we’ll have to take him to the vet.

Tomorrow is going to be our Christmas shopping day. We’re going to try to get it all done in one day so we don’t have to fight the mad holiday rush more than just the one day. And so we can rest and try to get over our colds. We also have to return the Christmas lights for around our tree outside. The fuse part of it melted an the lights stopped working. It’s ok though. They ended up not being what we actually wanted anyways. Now we can return them and get the lights we really want.

Well, with all that’s got to be done tomorrow, I need to head of to bed. Goodnight all.

Just a Quickie!

December 14, 2006

Tonight, I drove from Jackson, MS to Houston, TX. I spent all day yesterday waiting for the load to get completed. It was finally ready a little after 7pm. The 1st thing I did when I left Jackson was to go down the road to the Petro truck stop and get me some food. I hadn’t eaten all day. I had their chicken strips and the salad bar. The chicken stips were huge and tasted better than anywhere else I’ve ever had them. I actually had to take a few of them to go cause they were so big. Anyway, now I’m in Houston and it’s almost 6am. It’s time I get some rest. See ya’ll later.

My Donation To Fort Worth.

December 12, 2006

Today was going really good. I went to work, got my load right away, left toward Jackson, MS and wasn’t running into any problems at all. And then, like someone was trying to tell me,” How dare you have a good day!”, Susan called to tell me I got a letter from the City of Fort Worth. Immediately I thought to myself, “Oh no. This can’t be good.” I couldn’t have been more right. The letter was actually a bill for the stupid light post that I ran into during my accident a month ago. According to Fort Worth, I owe them $800! $800? For what? An over grown flashlight? That’s crazy! If I’m going to pay that much, I want the thing put in my front yard. Ok, enough ranting and raving. I called my insurance and they are going to make a claim adjustment to the original claim to cover the cost of the light post.

Besides that, all went well today. And now it’s time for me to get some rest for tomorrow. Goodnight, world.

Monday, Monday. Can’t Help That Day!

December 11, 2006

Let me start by saying that today was not the most pleasant of days. It began with Susan having a bad case of morning sickness. She stayed strong however and still went to work. Everyone there kept asking her if she was okay. She managed to make it through the day and got home feeling very worn out. Then just before we were about to go to Pancho’s for dinner she puked again. But this time she ended up puking up blood! It scared the crap out of both of us. I called her doctor and was told it was ok, but if we wanted to we could go to the ER. Susan said she’d be fine and that she didn’t want to go to the ER. So we went off to  eat. Then after dinner we went to the Walmart Market to get a few things and came home for the night.

While Susan was at work, I went to my 4 hour long dentist appointment. They cleaned my left upper and lower teeth. Then they ground down 2 of my back teeth to prepare them for crowns. For now, I have temporary acrylic teeth until the porcelain ones are made. I am ready for all this dental work to be done already. Worst of all, for the next 3 weeks I have to avoid eating anything crunchy or chewy.

All that happened the rest of today was that I finally fixed our outdoor Christmas lights and now they all work. Now I’m going sit back and relax the rest of the night. Starting…………NOW!

An Ornamental Night

December 11, 2006

Today we all went to the Lackey Christmas ornament exchange. It went surprisingly well. All of us had thought that it would, for lack of a better word, suck, since it was being held in a buffet restaurant instead of at someone’s home. However, being that it was at a restaurant, there was plenty of food for everyone, there was more room to move around, and there was no mess to clean up afterward. Susan & I brought home a teddy bear ornament and a gingerbread house ornament. They’re both really cute. I did feel a little guilty about the teddy bear ornament though. We had bought it. But both of us liked it so much that we wanted it for ourselves.

Oh yeah, by the way. Susan & I went to Ralph & Liz’s house in Aubury, TX last night for a surprise birthday party for our friend Wendy. And boy was she surprised. The look on Wendy’s face told everyone that she had no clue about the party. I’ve even avoided mentioning it here in the blog just in case she might be reading it. I didn’t want to spoil it for everyone. We had lots of fun that night. After eating a little, we played a couple of DVD/board games. Then we had some very taste cake. And just before we were about to leave, Liz hooked up the Wii game console. They have a game that includes golf, baseball, tennis, and boxing. I was asked if I wanted to try it, and of course I did. I played 3 rounds of boxing. And even though I beat the computer, just playing the game kicked my butt. It’s interactive! I never punched so hard or dodged so much in my life. I was exhausted afterwards. I’ll say one thing though, I slept good that night.

It is now time for me to retire, before I wake up with a keyboard imprinted on my face. Good night all.

Tryin’ to Play Catch Up!

December 9, 2006

Ok. Here’s the scoop on the last few days. On Thursday night I had to wait around in Greenville, Tx to pick up a load from 6pm – 2:30am. Then I took it to Waco, TX. I got lost trying to find the delivery location. The directions I had were wrong. There was construction in the area and things had been changed around. I finally got there about an hour late. I was delivering doors to a wood workshop. It was like I had taken a trip back in time to when I was in woodshop in high school. I’ve always loved the smell of sawdust and fresh cut wood. The sounds of sanders and saws. Back in high school, I always thought I’d end up in a career that had something to do with wood working. Oh well, guess I was wrong.

Then I got my final load for the week. I had to go back to the same place in Greenville to pick up another load of doors to bring to the Grand Prairie Service Center. I thought for sure I’d have to wait around forever to get the load. However, when I got there the load was already complete and ready to go. Yeah! I was able to get home by 4:30pm on a Friday. That is a rare thing. Susan came and picked me up and we headed to Craig’s Auto Repair to pick up my camaro.

They brought out the camaro from the back and it look like it was brand new. They had detailed it and everything. The only way you can even tell it was in an accident is if you look at the headlights and see that one is new and one is old. I’m hoping to get a new headlight for the other side in a little while so that they match. I brought it home and now it’s all I can do to help myself from checking it out all the time. We also watch Happy Feet last night. It was a really good movie. I would really like to buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Today, Susan, Janie, & I went to Double Dave’s for lunch. There was a father and 3 or 4 year old son sitting next to us. It made Susan & I both anxious for our baby to get here. I can’t believe there’s only 5 more months left until there’s a baby in our house. I’m still so excited and nervous about it all. We even went to Target and a place called “Kid to Kid” to look at some baby stuff. We ended up buying a really cute Noah’s Ark lamp, nightlight, and small picture frame. Susan also got a couple of maternity blouses while we were there. Now I’m just sitting at home being a bum and waiting until Susan & I go out again tonight.(more on that later)

I’ve still got to fix the Christmas lights on the roof. All the icicle lights are out again and I need to separate the strands some more. I will probably procrastinate and fix them tomorrow sometime. Tomorrow is also the Lackey Christmas ornament exchange. It’s going to be interesting to see how things go this year since it’s being held at Golden Corral instead of at a family member’s house. Hopefully everyone will still enjoy themselves. I guess that’s all. There is so much still coming up in the near future, so I know I’ll have plenty of things to talk about. But for now, I think I’ll shut up and leave something for me to type later.
